I give it an 8 out of 10
4 Star Review   By unmfish on Home Depot - May 28, 2013

Shipped very fast and for a price better than any other site I found it on. It's a very solid and durable burner (I use it for home brewing) The coating burns off with a pretty bad smell so i would burn it outside for awhile before using it for whatever you got it for. The unit was also missing the oxygen regulator plate that spins where the hose attaches, so i rigged it myself for about $3 and it works fine. Not really happy with the quality of the product but it does what I need it to do and for that I would recommend buying this for the price.

This burner rocks
5 Star Review   By Thomas on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2013

This burner exceeded my expectations. It gets 6 gallons up to a boil very quickly compared to my old turkey fryer. The only thing I didn't like was the first time using it the paint burned off of the grate. I don't mind the paint burning off but I did mind the horrendous smell. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area the first couple times you use it.

Awesome Product! Really Awesome!
5 Star Review   By Babu on Home Depot - Jan 15, 2013

Flame is perfectly symmetrical and beatifully Blue! We have tested it! It works really well. I recommend it for anyone considering outdoor cooking. We use it on our concrete backyard patio to fry fish, chicken or any other deep frying as for the Indian snackx and desserts (Pakoras, Samosas, Gulab Jamun, Bajji, Bonda, Papad, etc.) Go ahead and purchase it... It is more than worth its cost! Great value!

2 Star Review   By RIck on Home Depot - Sep 11, 2012

Well, the price was decent and the service from Home Depot online was Excellent. ...too bad the product quality was so disappointing. I've owned / used several similar burners in the past and this one just doesn't measure up. Hint: Go with another brand, but use the same retailer.

Good quality; sturdy burner
5 Star Review   By Sauceman on Home Depot - Sep 4, 2012

When using the burner I found it to be extremely efficient. The air mixture control allowed me to have a solid blue flame which resulted in a long lasting propane tank. The hose supplied was long enough (approx. 30") to keep a safe distance between the tank and flame. I used a couple of firebricks to raise the pot I was boiling from the flame as a precaution from scalding. I was so pleased that I purchased a second unit a week later.

Handles 10 gallon stock pot perfectly...
5 Star Review   By Skip on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

I ordered this product for use with a 10 gallon stock pot. The burner heats the pot up quickly and the flame is easy to adjust. It's sturdy base holds the weight of the pot. Works well on windy days also.

Great price, fast delivery, using this for homebrewing.
4 Star Review   By CrazyBrewer on Home Depot - Aug 28, 2012

This burner is a great price, better than from the homebrew stores. Heats water fast once I got the air mixture right. Cannot run regulator full tilt, if you do it will tend to blow flame out.

Good value
4 Star Review   By Mike on Home Depot - Aug 22, 2012

Purchased this item to aid in canning tomatoes from the garden. Assembly and setup easy. Only complaint was with the burner mounting. The single mounting screw tended to loosen allowing the burner to rotate and if left long enough, to fall off. I added a 1/4" lock washer to the screw and had no further problem. I also thought about adding a support strap on the burner to support the end of the burner at the frame to take some of the stress off of the single mounting screw. Good wide unit with sturdy legs. Setup in back yard and used a level to assure level cooking surface. Overall very satisfied. Look forward to frying fish and steaming oysters this fall/winter.

This is the one to get!
5 Star Review   By DIYinOH on Home Depot - Aug 14, 2012

I brew beer, and if you're not familiar with the process we have to bring many gallons of water up to a boil and the quicker the better. I was using an old turkey fryer (with a bunsen burner style flame.... they call that a venturi tube I think?) and it did the job but this thing really gets the heat moving. The banjo style burner has dozens of tiny little high pressure flames and it creates a lot more heat. Highly recommended.

Great burner
4 Star Review   By Tone on Home Depot - May 11, 2012

Great price for a good burner. As expected, it took some fine adjustments to get the flame just right. I subtracted one star only for the noxious fumes that occur the first time using the burner. Just make sure to dedicate about a half hour for burning off the paint before you want to use it the first time. I use this for homebrewing and it works great. No problem bringing 6-7 gallons of water/wort to a boil very quickly.

Eats Propane For Breakfast

This is the one you want
5 Star Review   By BuzzclikCameraWorks on Home Depot - Dec 20, 2011

I went to Brick & Mortar stores looking for a good quality propane stove --Target, WalMart, Lowe's, HomeDepot, and only Academy Sports had this stove in stock, but at $90!!! Way too high! After looking on the internet, I found lots of $49.99 prices including obscure sites, but only Home Depot offered free shipping, effectively making it the best buy from a dependable vendor. When the stove arrived I was pleased to see the hose was made of stainless steel offered as an optional $20 upgrade. All the internet images pictured showed the rubber hose. So far I've used it once to brew some Ale with good results keeping the flame control at just the right heat level to prevent scorching and boil over. I feel my research and waiting for shipping (jet fast!) was the best way to go. So you can save your time and just GET THIS for $50! At this point in time, this is the best buy for a bomb proof propane stove

Regulator was missing from two factory sealed units. Other fatal defects...
1 Star Review   By RobertK on Home Depot - Dec 6, 2011

I ordered one unit from Amazon. It was factory sealed. When opened, the regulator was missing. I didn't want to deal with Amazon again. They have a history of shipping out returned defective items from previous dissatisfied customers. I ordered this second unit from Home Depot online. They don't sell it in the stores. Again, missing the regulator. I called Bayou Classic about it. They said return it for exchange at Home Depot. I brought the unit in to get a regulator because I needed it that night. Nothing fit. Bayou Classic uses a proprietary fitting regulator.

4 Star Review   By HL2011 on Home Depot - Nov 28, 2011

I love using this burner!
5 Star Review   By Drew on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2011

I use this burner to brew beer, and for the price and quality I feel extremely happy with it. It brings water and wort (unfermented beer) to a boil about 5x faster than my stove did, is economical with propane, and is easy to assemble and to adjust during the burn. It's also big enough to provide a stable base for my pots. Only downside is the paint burns off starting immediately, but I already knew that and it's trivial to me. If you need a reliable & economical burner, look no further!

Does a good job of heating
4 Star Review   By Beverly on Home Depot - Oct 25, 2011

Happy with the product. Heats nicely. Some paint burns off at first usage, so it doesn't look new for long. But it works.

Excellent burner for homebrewing 5 gallon batches
4 Star Review   By KennifWithAnF on Home Depot - Oct 19, 2011

I have one of these and am about to buy one for a friend who is a new brewer. They work great and are sturdy. My only problem with this burner is that it is under powered for larger volumes of liquid, like 7-10 gallons. If you're in to brewing beer and you want to brew 5 gallon batches, this will work fine.

Shoddy Assembly Hardware
3 Star Review   By alcain on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2011

The product itself is steel and brass, well made, but the fitting and stability design of the burner to the stand is unbelievable stupid. I added a spacer to bring the burner to the proper level to fit to the stand, then had to drill two holes in the stand to secure the burner tail end to the stand for proper support. Now that these modifications have been made, the unit is safe, stable and secure. Do not plan on putting a small pan on this unit without a bbq grate as it will fall through. The unit is designed for large pots.

Looks good. Have not used it yet.
4 Star Review   By huynh02vt on Home Depot - May 16, 2011

Have not had a chance to use this yet. Everything came except the screw to connect the burner to the stove frame! I had to make a run to the store to buy a $0.50 screw. The delivery of the stove was as scheduled. Price was the best on the net. Some places have lower price for the stove, but very expensive shipping.

5 Star Review   By PortCityBoi on Home Depot - May 6, 2011

Not The Best, But It Will Work
3 Star Review   By JRfromMO on Home Depot - Dec 18, 2010

Short Review - Much better than my old burner that seems to have lasted through the civil war. Product was shipped to the house. The Bad - The bolt that holds the burner to the frame was missing so I had to rig that up. Connection at the propane tank doesn't seal very well. Propane fumes were very present when hand tightening which I don't think is normal. I had to use a pair of channel locks to tighten the connection at the tank. The o2 adjuster is very loose and doesn't like to stay in one position even when adjusting the screw. The Good - Large cooking surface. Will fit a keggle for homebrewers. Sturdy frame. Easy to adjust flame. Amount of propane used. Price.

Happy to be a Tool-Maker
5 Star Review   By OldEarnhardtFan on Home Depot - Jun 17, 2010

Overall, this product is sturdy and well built. It works flawlessly. Hot flame that is easy to adjust. The only problem I had was connecting the gas line. The galvanizing used on the burner seeped into the threaded port. Fortunately I had an 1/8 NPT Tap on hand and after chasing the threads all is well.....

Awesome!
5 Star Review   By DrawTap88 on Home Depot - Jun 16, 2010

They aren't kidding about the paint burning off...and it stinking. Other than that, this brought about 7 gallons of wort to a boil in no time. I was worried about getting something other than the "blingman" for homebrewing, but this works just well (if not better). Buy this and with the money you'll save you can buy some other toys.

Exceeded Expectations
5 Star Review   By kendog on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2009

I used this burner to fry a turkey for Christmas. The outdoor temperature was 40 degrees F. While cooking there was significant wind and rain. I put up a tent (top, no sides) to protect myself and burner from rain. The burner has more than enough BTU to heat the 5 gallons of oil and turkey to 350 degrees F and finish cooking in less than 1 hour. I would strongly recommend this burner to friends and family.

Perfect For Large Jobs
5 Star Review   By KYHomebrewer on Home Depot - Apr 23, 2009

I have now owned this burner for 2 years. Primarily this burner is used for home brewing. I use a large 20gallon brew pot and usually have it filled between 12-15 gallons. This burner heats that quantity up in about 15-20 minutes. Temperature control is very easy with the regulator and I have done everything from a continuous rolling boil to a nice slow simmer. The frame is a little rusted from use, but is so sturdy that a little touch up paint and it will probably last 30 years. I have never had a problem with tipping or being unstable. The low profile to the ground cuts on that risk. Adjustment for the flame gas-air mixture is easy as a turn of the input valve. Produces a nice hot blue flame every time. Just remember to connect the tank with your regulator off, open the tank valve and let the regulator maximize the pressure before lighting. In closing, if you are going to do anything from boiling a large pot of liquid to slow simmers with something thick like chili, this thing can do the job. Never have had a flame up or a hot spot. Only con, on windy days may not perform as well unless you block the wind.

Poor Manufacturing be careful
3 Star Review   By Gruver on Home Depot - Jan 11, 2009

I would like to review this product in two phases.... 1. The first Bayou Classic Burner I purchased from my local Home Depot was clearly defective. The threaded LP connection into the base of the burner was not threaded correctly. I had to return this unit for the only one left in the store. The replacement model threaded better, but I had to reshape the female threads to accept the LP connection. 2. With that being said, once the unit was properly connected, it worked great for my HomeBrewing! I have a converted Keg as my boil pot and the 16" x16" base easily handles the size and weight of a 15.5 gallon brewpot. I am easily able to bring 14 gallons of water to a boil in about 35 minutes. It would be nice if this unit were offered in a High Pressure connection for even faster boils. In conclusion, this is a solid performer for avid homebrewers, but be careful not to be stuck with a defective unit.

Terrific product
5 Star Review   By MelandJay on Home Depot - Aug 20, 2007

We bought this product for our large lobster pots and we could not have found a better product. It's strong, easy to set up, very durable yet light weight and easy to carry. The legs have extra support that enable it to hold large amounts of weight. It does not take a up a lot of space which is great for the people like us who do not have a large patio. The burner cooked very evenly and very quickly. I would highly recommend this product to the outdoor cook. We have two large lobster pots so we will be purchasing our second burner very soon.
