Average, but good price
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Mar 7, 2013

I am happy with the various sizes of the bowls and they are satisfactory for my purposes. One of the bowls was broken when it arrived, but a simple phone call took care of it and they sent out another one within a few days. The bowls are pretty lightweight, but considering the price, they are o.k. I'm glad I have them, but they are not top of the line. Good price.

Great Purchase!
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Feb 8, 2013

I am pretty darn happy with this coffee maker as I love that I can use whole beans or ground beans. I enjoy setting it to brew ahead of time so that I can wake up to a good cup of Joe! The only downside to this is that if you don't get up shortly after your coffee has brewed, it will be cold. The thermal pot is great but I wish there was a way for it to stay warmer (hotter) longer. If you do not use the "timer" then you can always warm up the carafe by filling it with hot water before you brew (dumping the hot water directly into your coffee maker). All in all, a good purchase!

Good idea, bad machine
1 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 8, 2013

I wanted to like this updated 12-cup version of Cuisinart's Grind and Brew because I was a fan of the older, 10-cup model. I admit with the older one I had to replace it every couple of years because the bean grinder mechanism would die out, but at least with that one I knew what I was getting. This newer model is bad on two fronts. One, I want more control over how many beans get put through the grinder. I like strong coffee and in my opinion the machine doesn't process enough beans to make a good, strong brew even when I had it programmed for strong. Two, it doesn't heat the water hot enough to extract all the flavor from the beans. Even when I poured a cup directly after it finished brewing, it wasn't a hot cup of coffee. The best part was when I called Cuisinart customer service to ask how to make the machine work better for what I was looking for and the guy flat out just said to return it. He didn't care at all! Worst customer service experience I've had in a long, long while.

No more burnt coffee!
4 Star Review   By Coffee1 on Home Depot - Aug 21, 2012

So far, we have been quite impressed with this unit. It takes a little getting used to at first. It seems complicated at first, but once a routine is set, it's easy. It does require more maintenance as far as cleaning to keep it in good working order. The best part is that it will keep hot coffee with out burning it!

Makes great coffe
5 Star Review   By TimH on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2012

This is a very well made grind and brew coffee maker. We found out that we can set the # of cups for the grinder at 3 cups less than the amount we are actually making and the coffee comes out great.

Best Coffee I have ever Had!
5 Star Review   By bleudoMan on Home Depot - Jun 19, 2012

This coffee maker eliminates the need for going to a local coffee shop and dropping way too much money. Because it automatically grinds the perfect cup of coffee each time it takes the guess work out. As-long-as you buy premium whole bean coffee, you will be totally satisfied with this coffee maker. I also love the feature that lets you brew already ground coffee in case you don't have any Whole bean. You will impress your guests and friends as they compliment how good your coffee is. A breeze to clean, Definitely recommend this coffee maker! We LOVE IT!

Great Coffee. Huge Pain in the A**.
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Mar 1, 2012

In theory this should be a great little coffee maker. I REALLY want to like it. In reality, however, it's almost more of a hassle than it's worth. I've used this roughly a dozen times since I bought it two weeks ago and already the chute between the grinder and the basket is clogged. While Cuisinart does warn you about this in their manual and also provide you will a small brush to clean it, 15 minutes later there's no amount of poking and prodding that can truly get all the ground bean residue out. While having a machine that grinds the beans for you is incredibly convenient, I'll be going back to buying ground coffee and using the trusty, Plain Jane, drip Cuisinart coffee maker I had been using prior to purchasing this one.

After around 3 years having problems
4 Star Review   By HIMN on Home Depot - Nov 28, 2011

I loved this machine for the first two years and now it needs to be replaced. First, to address some of the common issues and how to solve them- be VERY careful when pouring water into the basin. It is quite easy to get liquid into the hopper section which will create problems with the grinding area. Specifically, the spout that the ground coffee exits and the grinding area will also clog. You will need to take it apart and clear out the spout section with a small tool- sometimes the little cleaning gadget works but sometimes you need to get creative. Make sure all the pieces are free from coffee ground build up. Most of the time this occurs when you pour water too quickly, however; over time this will happen due to the steam / moisture created by brewing. The problem I am having now is that the machine just beeps and beeps like when you forget to put one of the pieces in, but everything is in correctly and it keeps trying to 'catch' the top piece that turns to (I think) adjust the strength. This creates an annoying clicking sound for sometimes up to a few hours and will occasionally click into the right position and the water will be released. Obviously I was desperate for coffee. So, here is my take on the machine. It has a few really annoying issues, but I still really like it and was online to replace it with the same machine. Don't plan on it's life to be over 3 years and you won't be disappointed, if it last longer you can be pleasantly surprised!

Coffee Pot
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 25, 2011

We have really enjoyed our new coffee pot, however it can be a little bit loud while grinding the coffee and has clogged due to the oil from the coffee beans. With that said, it was super easy to clean out and it does make a great pot of coffee.

Grinder stopped working after 6 months
1 Star Review

Strengths: loved it while it was working.

Weakness: have only had 6 months use 2 times a week on weekends cleaned on a regular basis & the grinder stopped working & to get fixed I am expected to send back to Ontario prepaid & include return postage...

very unhappy with the lack of customer service not a cheap coffee maker & to have to send back prepaid & include postage to get it back is really poor business ethics..

Great concept, poor design
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Sep 17, 2010

We have always been a big fan of Cuisinart products and have been pleased with all we own until this one. Two main issues - the "chute" between the grinder and the basket that holds the ground coffee gets clogged up at least twice a week, requiring you to disassemble the top part of the machine, clean the chute with an implement of your own design as nothing comes with the machine (we use the end of a chop stick, kept next to the machine for this purpose),, reassemble everything, pour out the full pot of coffee that was just made and looks like tea since none of the grounds got into the basket, and start the process all over again. Not great when you're rushing around at 6AM getting ready for work and school and thinking there's a fresh cup of Joe waiting for you. Second, as someone else mentioned, the carafe has an inner lip to it that requires you to take the top off it to get the last cup of coffee out of it. Not a big deal, but annoying. Seems like they manufactured this one without anyone at Cuisinart actually testing one for a couple weeks.

The good and the bad, more bad
2 Star Review   By TinBanger on Home Depot - Sep 5, 2010

Yes it will make a great cup of coffee when it works, but we have had this unit for over 3 years now and have found it very high maintenance, it needs cleaning at the bottom and below the bean hopper after almost every brew and door pops open for no apparent reason at start of brewing way to often. And now a new problem has come up, its not grinding enough beans (even on strong brew) and the coffee is coming out weak. For the money we spent it should work a lot better and last longer. Although a great idea this one needs the go back drawing board.

Makes Great Coffee
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 27, 2010

We got this from our registry and are extremely pleased with the product. We immediately went out and got whole beans of our fav coffee. It comes out amazing every brew. The only part of this product I am not 120% pleased with is the carafe. I find it a little hard to get that last cup out. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Awesome Coffee
5 Star Review   By Melzflowerz on Home Depot - Feb 17, 2010

I really like this coffee maker. The coffee tastes great and is kept really hot by the insulated carafe. I think the only thing that is obnoxious is waking up to the loud grinding sound....but all coffee grinders make noise and I don't have to set it to start brewing at 5am! Anyways, besides that I am really pleased!

Great Product
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 28, 2010

I previously owned the Cuisinart Automatic Grind and Brew - the model in which the grinder only holds enough for one pot of coffee. I loved the great coffee it made, but hated messy cleanup involved with making each pot of coffee. The coffee grounds got wet in the grinder and it was a pain to clean out. I was excited to see the upgraded model which holds a 1/2 lb of coffee and the filter cover has a special top that moves for grinding and brewing automatically which prevents moisture from reaching the beans! No more cleaning the grinder! This model is Hassle free!. I love, love, love this coffee pot! The thermal decanter does pour slower than the glass model but I find it doesn't spill as much. Well worth the money!

Disappointment
1 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jan 15, 2010

We purchased this product with high expectations and were looking forward to upgrading from our tiny old 4-cup Cuisinart coffee maker. This machine is best suited for individuals with large coffee consumption. It is huge and takes up alot of counter space. Some additional things to note: 1) Coffee flavor/strength seemed weak, although we tried to experiment with the strength control knob. It never tasted as good as our small Cuisinart coffee maker. Very poor. 2) The base does not contain a heating element so if you like hot coffee, this is not the machine for you. The carafe is thermal and that is all you'll have to keep your coffee warm. 3) The carafe itself is large and clunky - hard to handle. Unless it is completely full, it is difficult to pour from. Poor design. I thought I may be too particular and/or picky but when I went to return it, the customer at the register next to me was returning the exact same machine! She and her husband were also very dissatisfied with it. We've gone back to our old Cuisinart and have greater appreciation for smaller, simpler things than ever before.

poor pouring from thermal carafe
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Aug 22, 2009

Although this made spectacular coffee the thermal carafe is horrible. I have had numerous wrist surgeries and not only was the thermal carafe unexpectedly heavy, the coffee trickled out. To hold and basically turn the carafe upside down to get coffee out made it impossible for me to pour. I had to return it and will purchase the glass carafe version. I real disappointment because I really wanted a thermal carafe to keep my coffee fresh.

Never going back to Starbucks...
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 23, 2009

...except to buy beans ;) I previously owned a Melitta Grind and Brew, and after 5 years, decided that it was time to upgrade. A felllow coffee loving friend of mine endlessly extolled the virtues of his burr grinder...and I decided to one-up him with the burr grinder and coffee pot combo here. My coffee intake has tripled since purchasing! The burr grinder really effects the taste and each cup is wonderful. I love having the carafe...no burnt flavor or need for a separate carafe. The only downside is that the grinder is quite loud; I just program it to go off simultaneously with my morning alarm. After my first snooze is up I am stirred from my sleep with the smell of a delicious cup o' joe.

the only coffeemaker I'll ever use
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 21, 2009

Grind n Brew is the best invention every! I'll never own another kind of coffeemaker. This thing is awesome. Throw in the whole beans and add some water and you're done! It shuts itself off in case I forget and looks great too. My last Cuisnart coffeemaker was a little fragile but this thing is sturdy. Makes good coffee!

5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 21, 2009

My parents wanted a coffee pot for Christmas, but they requested a "good one, that would not leak or need replacement after a year or two." This in an excellent coffee maker! It was really expensive, but we were able to catch it when it was on sale, and felt like it was a good deal! They love there new coffee pot! they use the grind feature as an alarm clock too! I think this coffee pot will withstand the tests of time. So far so good.

Fantastic coffee!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 19, 2009

I love this coffee maker. I do believe grinding the beans daily makes for a better cup of coffee. I have found that the coffee is delicious and the temperature is perfect. The carafe will keep the coffee hot for a few hours, but after that it does get lukewarm. It is important to clean out the basket and the grinder after every use otherwise the taste of the coffee could be effected. I wash the removable parts in the dishwasher every so often, but I don't do it every day as I find they can pick up the flavor of the dishwashing soap. It does help to flush the machine with vinegar and water every few months to remove all the built up coffee gunk, this will also help make better tasting coffee.

Cool idea
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - Jun 2, 2009

Love this thing--fresh-ground coffee every morning is a real treat. The only complaint I have is that the chute that delivers the ground coffee to the filter has a tendency to get clogged. It wasn't fun to wake up to a pitcher full of hot water!

Best Cup of Joe
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 30, 2009

My two kids and I bought this coffee maker for my husband for Father's Day last year. Not only does he enjoy it but the entire family does. Our favorite feature is the program setting. Each night we set the timer to go off the following morning and we are greeted by the smell of fresh coffee. It's so nice to be able to get up and it be ready for you instead of making it yourself. We would definately reccomend this product to family and friends!

Great Coffe Maker
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 28, 2009

We got this as a wedding gift and it was a huge step up from our very basic coffee maker from before. I love all of the wonderful features that this one offers such as a built in grinder, timer, water filter, and thermal carafe. It is also great to be able to choose the strength of your coffee at a press of a button. However, I find myself frequently stopping at a cafe to buy a cup of coffee in the morning when I am rushed. There is quite a lot of cleaning involved when you use the gold filter provided, so I find myself avoiding that whole process altogether. The coffee ends up pretty thick, too, with visible coffee grinds at the bottom of your mug. May be too strong for some people.

Best coffee maker ever!
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

This is hands down the best coffee maker I have ever used. I have owned over a dozen of coffee makers, and have used the coffee makers when staying with friends, so I've probably used two dozen and none even come close. the coffee is amazing. and it is so handy to not have to fill the beans every day. and the carafe keeps the coffee warm for over 10 hours. this is well worth the money!

This is an excellent product and so easy to operate. Clean -up is a snap. The coffee is stored in the top and automaically dispensed. You can adjust the coffee strength and the amount of coffee made. It takes a few trials to get it right, but once you do it is great.

Makes the morning enjoyable
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

Drinking coffee every day at home, we have been through many machines over the years and this by far is the best! The coffeemaker is a breeze to use- allowing you to produce fresh, hot coffee that stays that way for hours. The cleaning of it's parts is very easy. The preset button allows you to set up the beans and water the night before, awakening to the smell of great coffee. What I especially like is that the carafe keeps the coffee warm by insulating it cutting down on the amount of time the machine is actually on. Great savings of electricity!

Excellent All-In-One
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

this is a fabulous coffee maker. The burr grinder does a wonderful job, the strength settings are great, and it is very easy to use. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for longer than I thought it would (plus you don't get the over cooked taste from sitting on a burner). One small drawback. it gets tough to pour when you get down to the bottom of the pot. A near perfect coffee maker.

Grind it.
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on Crate & Barrel - May 27, 2009

I love the coffee this coffee maker makes. My only complaint is that at 5am, it sounds like a jet plane taking off in my kitchen. Not very subtle. So, I end up not grinding in the morning, only brewing from pre-grinded beans. But the coffee is great and I have zero problems with the machine. The thermal carafe is wonderful as well. Coffee stays nice and warm, even if I snooze until 6.

great coffee maker
5 Star Review   By captjack on Home Depot - Apr 2, 2009

i bought this coffee maker from our wedding gift money.i sure am glad i did, it makes the best coffee from whole beans.you can also use pre-ground coffee but whats the sense.it is a little bit of a pain cleaning since there is 3 parts that have to be removed but its worth the aggrevation.it will hold just about 8oz of beans in hopper and depending on brew strength and cup qty.it will last for a couple of weeks.keep up the good work cuisinart

Everything You Want
4 Star Review

Strengths: Great unit; little clean-up esp. compared to grinding in separate grinder.

Weakness: After about 6 or 7 mos. the buttons don't always work and you have to leave it alone for awhile and then they do. There is some condensation in the clock window.

It isn't so hard to clean once you get use to it. I use a butter knife to move the ground beans into the shoot when cleaning. Use the included brush to brush away additional grounds. Even though it has been giving me trouble, I would purchase it again as I like the convenience.

Awesome Coffee Maker
5 Star Review   By member mnerenbaum - Aug 7, 2008

Strengths: Has all the features you'd ever want...burr grinder, thermal carafe, etc.

Weakness: More difficult to clean than a standard coffee maker

This is a great coffee maker. It does everything and even stores 8 oz of beans in the hopper. I also got a really good deal on it at $119.99. Make sure to get the one with the thermal carafe and not the glass carafe...much better for the coffee!

unacceptable
1 Star Review

Strengths: great coffee when it works

Weakness: clogs within a week and refuses to be cleaned sufficiently to work. returned first one, then returned second one.

misdesigned. i am shocked that this coffee maker can be sold. there is a small chamber where the ground coffee travels to the chamber where the water flows through the grounds. This chamber backs up where the coffee compacts itself. It is at a very difficult angle to clean. even after cleaning the chamber clogs mysteriously.
