Black & Decker SDC740B Spacemaker
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Nov 15, 2010

The Black & Decker SDC740B is the budget 12-cup coffee maker in the SpaceMaker appliance range. It is designed to be mounted on the wall thus saving counter top space in the kitchen. As a coffee maker the SDC740B is similar to most of Black & Deckers offerings with a Programmable clock, perfect pour glass carafe, and auto brew feature. The save-A-Plug outlet feature allows for another SpaceMaker appliance to draw power from the SDC740B meaning both appliance will only use 1 wall outlet. Other features include non-stick heating plate, auto shut-off, and brew pause. The SpaceMaker SDC740B is a good option for kitchens with limited counter top space. Features 12 cup Perfect Pour glass carafe Wall mount coffee maker Save-A-Plug outlet Programmable clock Auto brew Illuminated water-level indicator window Brew-pause function Nonstick heating plate Auto shut off ... PROS: (1) brews coffee quickly compared to other coffee makers of the same size (2) cleaning is very simple, components easy to remove for rinsing (3) installation is easy, even for people not entirely comfortable with a drill (4) small profile, doesnt take up much room under the cabinet ... CONS: (1) on/off buttons are awkward, have to slide finger along the bottom of the cabinet to get to them (2) clock is placed in a spot that is hidden by the cabinet (3) filling the water is awkward, hard not to spill

Love this product!
5 Star Review   By Jaci on Home Depot - Jan 21, 2012

After having an under the cabinet Black and Decker coffee maker for quite a few years we literally wore one out. So after searching the internet for a new one we found the Home Depot site. It has been about a month now and we love our new coffee maker. It was a little hard to install as the screws turned out to be to long when screwed through the bottom of our cupboard, but my husband is creative and he just took a Dremel tool and cut them off. The thing that we love about this new model over the old one is, the carafe pours so easily and is easy to clean. Of course as with any new product it takes a few days to get used to. However we now have fresh coffee in the morning with the automatic set alarm which starts our coffee pot on time. Thank you for carrying this product.

Under the Counter Black & Decker coffee maker
1 Star Review   By GINA on Home Depot - Oct 25, 2011

Too bad it did not keep coffee hot at all after it brewed. The sleek design and the under the cabinet feature is one of the reasons I chose this model.

works great saves room
5 Star Review   By McChefy on Home Depot - Oct 11, 2011

I always have had an under counter B&D coffee maker for the last 20 years. This one is great becasue the mounting is part of the unit and you dont have to buy an extra set of brackets like you had to in the past. This one is very slick and modern looking. So far it seems to work great. The fill tray is kind of cumbersum. Overall it does what it should and saves space. I think like everything these days it wont last over 5 years but thats the world we live in.

different
4 Star Review   By forrest on Home Depot - Aug 6, 2011

it's a little bulkier than I thought (actually takes a little more space up. BUT I do like that it is off the counter and the shower head brew works well. Plus it looks cool and makes great coffee ))

Newer but not Better
4 Star Review   By coffeenut on Home Depot - May 16, 2010

I replaced B&D's original under the cabinet coffee maker with this new model. I liked the old one a lot and when it went south on me after about 5 years, I wanted another. The new one may look a little nicer, but it is a little more cumbersome to use, mostly the water reservoir is harder to handle when full. Also the specs said at least two of the mounting holes would be the same as on the old one. Not so. None of them were the same. All in all it is a great space saver and makes great coffee.

Handling
3 Star Review   By cobra20mm on Home Depot - Apr 17, 2010

The handling of the coffee filter bowl is a trickey due to the handle design. It's difficult to control while removing and installing due to the surface area and no real hook disign to grap. The pour spout of the corath dribbles and forces you to slow way down on the pour process. The water tank is another issue of handling. The grap hook for removal and installation of the water tank could have been designed better especially for the senior citizens. Water sloshes out of the tank when sliding it into place. Take another look at the design please. Thanks

Spacemaker 12-cup
4 Star Review   By Keppyman on Home Depot - Apr 11, 2010

very easy to use and I love that I can set it and go take my shower and my coffee is ready before I walk out the door to work. And the fact that I have extra counter space is a major advantage for my small kitchen

Excellent Coffeemaker
5 Star Review   By Granpabob on Home Depot - Feb 7, 2010

Of course it makes great coffee, but I really like that it's up under the counter, leaving the countertop open. It's easy to use and attractive as well.

black and decker space maker coffe maker
5 Star Review   By michaelynn on Home Depot - Feb 7, 2010

Installation instructions were a little confusing, but I was able to install it myself and I am not a real do it your-selfer. It would have been easier if someone else were home to provide another set of hands, but I got it done alone after a few tries. Love how it looks and really does provide extra counter space. I wish it could accomodate a mesh basket, but requires paper filters.

plan a whole day for installation
4 Star Review   By MeganOwen on Home Depot - Jan 23, 2010

coffee tastes great but took about a week to master how to make it right. put the water in the carafe and pour into the water holder, there are two lines for the coffee count, make sure you use the water one. in the end we LOVE IT! and want more space saver products, so glad they are making them again!!

Space savor coffee maker
4 Star Review   By Manwithnoname on Home Depot - Dec 26, 2009

I like the way it mounts under my cabinet and saves a lot of space on my kitchen top. It brews the coffee just great and keeps the coffee hot for at least 2.5 hrs. the only fault is the clock, it loses 5 minutes or more every hour. If you go to work every morning you can make a fresh pot of coffee only if you set the timer to 1 hr earlier each day. to get the machine to function correctly.
