Love this new dryer!
5 Star Review   By kaye on Home Depot - Jun 12, 2013

Quiet, so many drying options. Energy saving cycle doesn't dry completely so need to add extra minutes (only negative so far)

Too early to tell how good this product is.
3 Star Review   By DryerCustomer on Home Depot - Jun 11, 2013

New products generally work well right out of the box. It's not until you've had them for a while that you know whether they were made well or not, and whether they have the features you need. My previous Maytag electric dryer lasted 30 years, with two major repairs that I did myself -- a new drive belt, and a new heating element. Then, when one of the thermostats broke recently, I knew it was time to get a new dryer. I selected the Centennial model because it seemed to have the most cost effective set of features, including a moisture sensor, which is the only truly environmental aspect of any dryer. Let's hope the Maytag reputation continues with this dryer, and I get 30 years out it as well.

DOES NOT DRY ANYTHING HEAVY LIKE TOWELS!
2 Star Review   By Carol on Home Depot - May 24, 2013

I have had this dryer for 6 months and I am ready to buy a new one because of the many times that clothes and towels come out damp! The timed cycle does not dry anything but light loads. The energy efficient cycle still leaves towels and bathrobes damp! You cannot put anything heavy in this big dryer like a comforter or blanket and expect it to dry in one cycle! My old dryer dried everything in one cycle. This so-called energy efficient dryer is costing me money because I have to run most of my laundry loads through twice to get them dried. Ironically, this is a large dryer but you cannot put in a really large load and expect it to dry.

Mostly good
5 Star Review   By kdandres on Home Depot - May 14, 2013

Dries well in the timed mode but takes some getting used to when using the automatic sensor mode. If the load is a mix of heavy and thinner items the drier will stop with the heavier items still damp. To solve this you must sort not only by fabric such as cotton or polyester, but also how heavy it is. This results in more loads defeating the energy savings advantage...or... you just use the oldfashioned timed dry mode. Also clothes come out with no static.Yippie!

Simple controls, yet all of the features I need. Quiet.
5 Star Review   By MaytagFan on Home Depot - May 7, 2013

Dryer is performing very well so far. It replaces another Maytag dryer that went bad after 1.5 years. If it lasts longer than the one it replaced I will give it an "excellent" in quality and value rather than the "good" I did give it. No complaints. I have had Maytag washer/dryers most of my 68 years.

Haven't had a new dryer in awhile but this one delivers. Drying time is quick , like the light in the drum. Only wish the lint catcher was in an easier place to access like my old one - in the door. Overall I'm very satisfied.

Good product, not overpriced required addons (plug, air duct)
2 Star Review   By James345 on Home Depot - Mar 12, 2013

The dryer is great, but did NOT like that the plug was an extra $20 and the air vent tube another $20 or so. Then the repair man installed the tube in such a way that the dryer would not fit back into its place and said there was nothing he could do. I ended up having to buy a new tube on top of that and installing it myself. If I would have known about the extra add-ons and install issues I DEFINITELY would have gone somewhere else for my dryer.

noisy but good
4 Star Review   By Chromia on Home Depot - Feb 6, 2013

We haven't had the dryer long enough to rate energy efficiency and see any change in the electric bill. I like this dryer better than the similar GE product it replace, except that it's noisier. 1. stiff/solidly closing door 2. opening easier to get in and out of 3. large lint trap in the back instead of at the door

Durable but slow drying times
4 Star Review   By Laundrylady on Home Depot - Dec 13, 2012

This a durable dryer. We have never needed to repair and had it for 5yrs. Heavy loads such as denim and towels can take 90minutes. Best for smaller households due to excessive energy costs.

Has been a great dryer so far.
4 Star Review   By LazyLaundryBoy on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2012

Would consider purchasing again. As an aside, our old dryer had a front door which folded down as opposed to swinging open as this one does. I didn't think too much about it when we purchased this new dryer, but I'm kinda thinking I miss the fold down door. It made loading and unloading a little easier, not that it's hard with the new one. One could just throw laundry at the door and then shove it all in when ready to close. Likewise I think unloading was a little easier too. Just something to consider. Manufacturer, are you listening???

Jury is still out
3 Star Review   By drbrandie on Home Depot - Sep 19, 2012

I have not made up my mind yet about this. The first few times I used it, it took multiple cycles to dry one load. I finally turned the heat setting all the way off and then back up to high, kind of like unplugging a computer when it is acting up. I'll see if it continues to be difficult before I decide I like it. It was a good price though.

This dryer is so easy to use. It's quite and the clothes come out feeling much softer than with my old dryer.
5 Star Review   By gg123 on Home Depot - Sep 4, 2012

The product is so easy to use. Just one turn of the dial and not matter what i'm drying everything comes out wrinkle free and soft. The people who delivered it were so professional. They were in and out in not time. I had no mess to clean up and it was ready to go.

Great Product Great Value
4 Star Review   By Lindsay on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

We've been putting our new washer and dryer through the tests these first few weeks we've had it to catch up on a house full of laundry! It has kept up very well. The "energy efficient" setting is a little weak, the sensor says its dry but I had to put it in for an extra few minutes, but that isn't a big deal at all. I love this dryer, it is very big and suits our needs perfectly.

Clothes are dry quickly and quietly
5 Star Review   By MamaBird on Home Depot - Jul 3, 2012

I guess our old dryer was even worse than I realized, but this one has been working great. I just set it to the "energy preferred" setting on the sensor-dry mode, and it gets even huge loads of clothes dry quickly. Love it.

Back to Basics, with nice features
5 Star Review   By HDCustomer on Home Depot - Jun 26, 2012

This dryer replaces a relatively expensive pedestal, digital, fancy cycle dryer that died after costly repairs after only seven years. At the serviceman's recommendation, I went back to a basic model such as this. They are less prone to breakage don't need electronic controls, and this design has easier access for faster repairs if needed. That translates to a cheaper service call. This machine does a great job, with the three things I really wanted in a dryer- a drum light, a buzzer, and sensor drying for energy efficiency. The delivery men reversed the door, and I am back in business. Lesson learned.

Best Dryer I've purshased
5 Star Review   By Kgrubb on Home Depot - Jun 6, 2012

This is a great dryer. I bought this with the matching "agitator free" washer. I have hard water and between these 2 machines my clothes come out so soft, without a softener. I have left clothes in the dryer for a couple hours and when I go to take them out they are still soft and wrinkle free. With three kids I have a lot of laundry and couldn't be happier with this product.

Excellent Dryer
5 Star Review   By Matt on Home Depot - May 26, 2012

We've had this dryer since November 2011 and it has worked great, dries large loads fast, and the Sensor Dry option works better than ones I've experienced in the past. Glad I bought it. The only thing I would change about it is enabling the ability to disable the "Wrinkle Prevent" option like most other dryers with this feature since most of the time I don't have the need for it.

1 Star Review   By macbill on Home Depot - May 17, 2012

Energy efficient my foot. You can only dry on 'high' and then it's twice the time of my former Kenmore gas dryer. Seriously, we use more energy with this dryer. It can not be cost efficient.

5 Star Review   By DrDad on Home Depot - May 9, 2012

This is a good quality electric dryer with excellent drying performance. The drum light is a very nice feature. The moisture sensor works really well. The only (small) negative is that the door latch is a little flimsy. Overall, this is a great value and a tremendous performer.

Great Dryer with High Efficient cycle
5 Star Review   By elmara on Home Depot - May 1, 2012

Great quality dryer. Very quiet and efficient. The dryer has a High Efficiency cycle that is very good. It also has a wrinkle free mode that is very helpful. What it does, it get turns on every 30 - 40 minutes up to 2 hours I believe and runs for about 3-6 minutes to make sure the clothes remain wrinkle free. Pretty cool dryer for the price, I am happy with the purchase.

Very happy with my first electric dryer.
5 Star Review   By d30munn on Home Depot - Apr 5, 2012

Always have had gas dryers, moved had to buy an electric dryer. Dries well, very large tub and is quiet. Make sure the area is very deep. The vent that is attached in the back is ridged & extends the dryer out additional 7 inches. Need at least 34 to 35 inches clearance, and then room for the side door to open. Total space for depth is 57 inches, had to modify the laundry closet.

Solid machine
4 Star Review   By Caren on Home Depot - Apr 4, 2012

I am generally pleased with the ease of use and the solid feel of this machine. It does, however, seem to leave clothes a bit cool and damp on the "energy saving" setting. Perhaps I just have to get over baking them the old fashioned way...

Takes forever to dry clothes.
3 Star Review   By kimmy on Home Depot - Mar 1, 2012

After researching many dryers within my price range, I decided I really wanted this dryer. My only complaint is that it takes a VERY long time to dry clothes. Normal size loads. I like that you are able to switch the door around because I had to do that and it wasn't too hard.

Make sure your dryer exhaust line to the outside is clear
5 Star Review   By Craig on Home Depot - Feb 2, 2012

I work with appliances and so many times a person's old dryer dies and they buy a replacement and it doesn't dry either. The main reason this happens is the dryer line to the outside is clogged with lent. This will cause a dryer to overheat and leave you with hot steamy clothes instead of dry clothes because the steam had no place to escape. Make sure your exhaust is not clogged.

Awesome dryer!
5 Star Review   By MsCleanClothes on Home Depot - Jan 18, 2012

This message is to the folks saying the dryer won't dry in one cycle. Check your vents! A clogged or kinked vent will cause long dry time. This dryer is perfect!

5 Star Review   By MsCleanClothes on Home Depot - Jan 17, 2012

I looked at a lot of dryers before I decided on this one and I am not sorry I bought this one. I love this dryer for several reasons,it is perfect! It dries quickly, has just enough features and it is simple to use. I didn't want one with all kinds of features that I would never use, and I did not want to spend a fortune. This dryer is quiet, and the inside is huge, HUGE! Love the light inside and really just love everything about this dryer!

My Wife Loves This HUGE Dryer!
5 Star Review   By TomW on Home Depot - Jan 10, 2012

My wife absolutely loves this large-capacity dryer. She says that it dries loads in as little as 1/3 of the time it used to take the GE dryer it replaced! It runs very quietly and is simple to operate with the familiar control panel.

Does not dry average size load in one cycle.
2 Star Review   By Nancy on Home Depot - Nov 15, 2011

I have had dryer about 3 weeks now. I have dried clothes on both the timed (60 min.) and autosensor cyle on high heat and always need to put them through additional time or separate the clothes by pulling out any heavier weight clothes like jeans. I do not believe I am overloading the dryer. Very frustrating! What happened to Maytag quality?

A Decent Dryer
4 Star Review   By abcxyz on Home Depot - Nov 10, 2011

It is a good dryer. Doesn't fire the cloths. HOpe it maintains the texture of the cloth. Worth of $$$

Really seems NOISY!!
1 Star Review   By Mary on Home Depot - Oct 29, 2011

Used my dryer for the first time and was afraid to keep it running! Really clunked and sounded noisy! Left it run about 10 min. and finally got quieter. But every time I restart it it still makes an awfull noise. Could this be due to everything being new and tight? Has anyone else has this problem and does it get better or should I call repair?

Missing dry cycle
4 Star Review   By JohnMI on Home Depot - Oct 23, 2011

Love everything about this dryer except: wrinkle prevent mode is the only mode with sensor dry. The perfect dryer would be this one with one more cycle: sensor dry without wrinkle prevent mode. I don't need the dryer tumbling every 10 minutes or so with towels. Sometimes I don't want to get the laundry as soon as the dryers stops.

This model has more than enough capacity
4 Star Review   By Jayson on Home Depot - Oct 4, 2011

Delivery was on schedule. As for the dryer, the capacity is more than enough for a large family. Simple, straight forward operating features. Like the fluff dry-no heat feature. Works great but only have had it for a month. Time will tell.

Great Dryer
5 Star Review   By Scubagoofy on Home Depot - Sep 28, 2011

This is the third one of these I have bought. I like the lay out of the knobs. It is a huge capacity machine, able to dry a king size comforter. The sensor controlled drying feature is great, as you do not have to guess at how long it will take to dry something.

The dryer has performed as expected. I am pleased with the easy to use controls. The door can be changed to fit the laundry area. The door opening is large and makes loading easy. The dryer is quiet and does not have any vibration..

This product is so easy and efficient to use
5 Star Review   By Grandmaas on Home Depot - Aug 7, 2011

I recently bought this dryer, and I'm so happy with how wonderful it is. My granddaughter was living with me, and my energy bill was going up with our old dryer using so much energy and taking so long to dry. As soon as this one was installed, things got dry so much quicker, and my energy bill plummeted. I love it, and would recommend it to any of my family or friends.

EXCELLENT!!!
5 Star Review   By Mom3VT on Home Depot - Jul 27, 2011

We had purchased a top-of-the line GE dryer to have it start making squeaking sounds a week later, got it replaced and it happened again. Long story short we bought this dryer and it is great!!! Love the energy preferred drying option it allows you to set it and when the dryer no lnoger detects the moisture it will cool off and then turn off - no need at guessing how long to dry your clothes for. Only thing that option does not work well on is fleece and comforters. We have had this dryer for almost 2 months and are very happy with it. If you buy this dryer you will be glad you did and will never look back!

I am very please with the May Tag Centennial 7.0 cu ft Dryer. It is very efficient with electricity, and the loads are dry much faster! We replaced our old May Tags that we purchased 18 years ago! The new machine is very good. We are very please that we purchased this machine. We recommend this machine as a good operating dryer for any family.

Works fine.
5 Star Review   By bobb on Home Depot - Jul 23, 2011

I really like the sensor dry. The matching washer failed and the dryer had to dry very wet clothes. It did a great job in a short amount of time.

Good basic dryer and the price was right
4 Star Review   By Norm on Home Depot - Jul 9, 2011

Good value but if you are replacing an older dryer the cord that you are encouraged to purchase as an option is no different than any standard dryer cord and you can save money by using your old cord

new dryer
5 Star Review   By ame730 on Home Depot - May 1, 2011

I like being able to choose the temperature of the drying. I also very much appreciate the sensor dry, this way I don't use more energy than is needed. The dryer is done when the laundry is dry. The wrinkle release feature keeps the clothes smooth until I can get to them. The only thing about the dryer that I would change is the loudness of the buzzer, to me it is louder than it needs to be.

Excellent Dryer
5 Star Review   By JohnP35 on Home Depot - Dec 11, 2010

Giant size. Fits my comforters perfectly. More surface area equals faster drying. Sensor dry is a great feature. No more checking to see if the clothes are dry or moist. Sensor dry dries them perfectly! Saves on energy! This dryer is the best dryer i've ever used. Its quiet and is built with heavy duty parts. The lint filter on top makes cleaning the lint filter much easier. The insultation on this dryers is another plus. No more wasted heat being blown out the back or front. POWERFULL exhaust. First time i turned it on i was amazed how much air i could hear blowing out the vent compared to my old dryer. It was a toss up between this model and the cheaper Maytag Centennial. I am very glad i spent a little extra and bought this one. HIGHLY recommended.

Awsome Dryer
5 Star Review   By Jessica53 on Home Depot - Dec 4, 2010

I just love this dryer! I think it does a excellent job. It dries very well and it is very quite unlike my old dryer. Not to mention that it is very nice looking. Out of all the driers that I have used in my life time this one has got to be one of the best ones. I highly recommend this dryer.
